STB bulk storage silos enable processing operations to reduce inventory costs, labour, and materials whilst increasing the lineup time throughout.

Silo design and geometry can affect the way products discharge. The pattern of flow and type of discharge is dependent on many factors but the two main types are:

  • Core Flow (also known as Funnel Flow)
  • Mass Flow

Core Flow

Most silos, hoppers and bins give core flow due to the shallow cone and small outlet which is usually set by the materials flow and friction factor.

Mass Flow

With steeper cones and larger outlets Mass flow can be achieved. Careful design dependant on product characteristics and silo geometry can produce mass flow where the product moves and discharges from the silo en-masse.

We can accommodate silos up to 4.2m diameter and over 20m in length in our workshops/factory.  We specialise in fabricating food quality stainless steel/aluminium as well as painted mild steel construction.  We offer FEA and latest Solidworks & AutoCAD design as well steelwork and support structures for a complete storage silo installation.
